Rosanna Overcomer: Beyond the Gates of Gloriavale
Rosanna Overcomer was the first person to lay a complaint against Gloriavale leader Howard Temple, and the first to give evidence at his 2025 sexual offending trial.
After 27 years in the religious sect, Rosanna left Gloriavale in 2013 with her husband Elijah and their three young children, while pregnant with a fourth. They have since rebuilt their lives in South Canterbury, where they now live with six children.
In her memoir Beyond the Gates of Gloriavale, Rosanna details the difficulties of leaving the community and the challenges of adjusting to the freedoms that came with starting over. She joins Jim to share her story.
