Gloriavale Christian School has temporarily closed amid a staffing shortage, reportedly caused by allegations of abuse.

Nancy Bell, leader of Te Tai Runga (South) at the Ministry of Education confirmed the school’s closure and said it was addressing a staffing shortage.

The ministry was working with the school while it developed plans to reopen, which was understood to be on Monday, Bell said.

An investigation into abuse allegations is pending and the school’s principal, as well as a number of teachers, have been stood down, according to 1News.
